Ring of Fire: Seating a Tire With Starting Fluid

It’s a legend from gearhead mythology: igniting starting fluid inside a flat tire, causing it to “explode” up onto the bead seat. I decided to try this technique the other day with my motorbike, and after my tire burst into flame and I nearly burnt down my garage, I did manage to get it to work. If I had watched the video first, I would have known that you only need a little spray from the aerosol can, and that you don’t spray it into the valve hole. Also of note: Greasy, ham-fisted rednecks aren’t known for their thorough safety precautions, so when the guy in the video is actually warning you that you should have a fire extinguisher and safety glasses on hand, it’s wise to heed that warning.
